Who We Are

Pure Energy is a hands-on, Christian middle school program for homeschool students in grades sixth, seventh, and eighth. All students must be at least 11 years old by August 30. We offer a mixture of academic and elective classes. Students will be taught in their own grade levels for science, history, and homeroom. There will be mixed grade levels at lunch and in the elective classes.

We will be meeting at the Round Rock Church of Christ (off of Georgetown St. & 79) on Wednesdays from 9:30-3:00, August 20-May 20. We are not affiliated with the church but grateful to be using their facilities.

Our Motto

~Matthew 5:8- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Our Goals

To make the subject matter applicable to real life, so that the students will develop higher level thinking skills, the ability to work well with others, leadership skills, and zest for lifelong learning. This will be accomplished by using a hands-on approach to the material, allowing different learning styles to be utilized. A wide variety of projects, presentations, discussions, and cooperative learning will help to achieve these goals.

Our character development class will promote an understanding of character traits that are pleasing to God. We also want to encourage our students to have a "servant's heart" by helping those in need (with student designed service projects).

 Our Beliefs

~John 3:16- For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

We seek to glorify Christ in what we do at Pure Energy. Our classes will be taught from a Christian viewpoint, which will align with the Holy Bible.

The teachers at Pure Energy are paid professionals. We recognize that homeschool families are very busy. Parents are not required to volunteer at our program. We do ask that you monitor your child's homework assignments and give guidance when needed.

Our teachers expect dedication from their students. This should be visible in the student's work habits, attitude, and behavior in class. Homework is a requirement for science, history, character development, and some electives. Science and history should each take about 30-45 minutes per day and character development about 25 minutes per week. Elective classes will vary.

We do not feel that letter grades or tests give the most accurate depiction of a student's learning progression or potential growth at Pure Energy, nor do they make the best use of our class time. Since the teachers will not be assigning grades, they will be giving written and/or verbal feedback on most assignments. Occasionally peers and the students themselves will be giving feedback on class projects/participation. You will receive a progress report at the end of each semester. It is at the parents' discretion whether or not they will give tests or letter grades for their child's work at home.

Childrens' friendships are an important aspect of middle school development. In addition to cooperative learning and class discussions, students will have time to visit at lunch and at our once a month "Fun Night Out." (We do not allow any boyfriend/girlfriend type of relationships at Pure Energy or at any sponsored events.) We will also have one optional service project per semester that is outside of class time.

Holidays are a fun time for everyone. We will have the following parties: Christmas, Valentine's Day, and End of the Year. If you would like to send a special treat for your child's birthday, feel free to do so. Please mail out any birthday party invitations, unless you are inviting your child's entire homeroom class. We will also have a Character Awards Banquet/Promotion Night one evening in May to celebrate the childrens' accomplishments with their families.

We hope we will be seeing you this August at Pure Energy!

In Christ,
