Who We Are

Pure Energy is an eclectic, hands-on Christian program for homeschool students in grades seventh thru tenth. We offer a mixture of academic and elective classes, in addition to character development and service projects.

Our all-day program is located at Round Rock Church of Christ (off of Georgetown St. & 79) on Wednesdays from 9:30-3:00, August 29-May 15. We are not affiliated with the church but are grateful to be using their facilities.

Our Motto

Actively learning while keeping a pure heart for God.

~Matthew 5:8- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Our Goals

We strive to make the subject matter applicable to real life, so our students will develop higher level thinking skills, the ability to work well with others, leadership skills, and a zest for lifelong learning. This will be accomplished by using a hands-on approach to the material, allowing different learning styles to be utilized. A wide variety of projects, presentations, games, dramas, discussions, and cooperative learning will help achieve these goals. Our curricula is carefully chosen to make certain it accomplishes our goals as well.

Our character development class will promote an understanding of character traits that are biblical. We also want to encourage our students to have a "servant's heart" by helping those in need (with student-designed service projects).

 Our Beliefs

~John 3:16- For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

We seek to glorify Christ in what we do at Pure Energy. Our classes will be taught from a Christian viewpoint, which will align with the Holy Bible.

Our teaching team consists of caring, creative teachers who enjoy learning, teaching, and interacting with this age group. They have talents and/or training specific to what they are teaching. Our teachers expect dedication from their students. This should be visible in the student's work habits, attitude, and behavior in class. Homework is a weekly requirement for homeroom, science, history, and some electives.

We do not feel that letter grades give the most accurate depiction of a student's learning progression or potential growth at Pure Energy. Since our teachers will not be regularly assigning grades, they will be giving written and/or verbal feedback or evaluations on assignments. Occasionally, peers and the students themselves will be giving feedback on class projects/participation. (Some classes will give quizzes at the end of units.) Parents will receive a progress report at the end of each semester. It is at the parent's discretion whether or not he/she will give letter grades for completed school work at home. Pure Energy classwork & homework can easily be integrated into an overall GPA if a family chooses to do that.

We recognize that homeschool families are very busy. Parents are not required to volunteer at our program, although we have occasional volunteer opportunities available. We do ask that you help your child at home with weekly homework assignments and review progress reports, teacher assessments, and other feedback with your child. Parents are still the student's main teacher and are free to make modifications and overall decisions that best fit their family's needs.

Children's friendships are an important aspect of middle school and high school development. In addition to cooperative learning and class discussions, students will have time to build relationships at lunch and at our once a month "Fun Night Out". We will also have one optional service project per semester and occasional field trips that are outside of class time.

Holidays are a fun time for everyone. We will have the following parties: Christmas, Valentine's Day, and End of the Year. If you would like to send a special treat at lunch for your child's birthday, feel free to do so. To avoid hurt feelings, please mail out any birthday party invitations, unless you are inviting the entire school.

We hope to see you this August at Pure Energy!

In Christ,

Cheryl Rakowski, M.Ed.- Director
